WHAT IS COACHING
Coaching has traditionally been associated with sports. However, over the last couple of decades, coaching has become popular in just about every sphere of life, including business, leadership, personal development, financial management and relationships.
Broadly speaking, coaching is a process where a ‘coach’ guides an individual (the coachee) or group of individuals to reflect and gain awareness of who they are, what is important to them, their strengths, their challenges, the options they have and what actions to take in order to make the changes they want in their work or life.
Unlike training and instruction where the focus is on the trainer sharing their knowledge and insights with the participant, coaching focuses on helping the coachee to take responsibility for identifying their own goals, assessing their own strengths and areas for development and identifying their own solutions for moving forwards. The coach does this by providing an engaging, safe, creative and non-judgemental space, asking thought-provoking questions and listening to help the coachee explore, reflect and make decisions.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE:
Certification vs Accreditation?
Certification represents a written assurance by a third party of the conformity of a product, process or service to specified requirements. Coaches who successfully complete the CPC Coaching program will be certified by Strength Synergy & UBUNTU Coaching for adhering to pre-set minimum standard requirements.
Accreditation, on the other hand, is the formal recognition by an authoritative body (such as the ICF) of the competence to coach to specified standards or in the use of specific tools. Coaches who successfully complete the CPC program can submit their certification as part of the ICF portfolio pathway towards accreditation.
